Vanessa Udom, based in Los Angeles, is the Chief Executive of The Treehouse Juice & Wellness ‘formerly Ohm Unit LLC’. A company fostering a culture of health as well as to enhance and sustain the quality of living, by providing high-quality functional juices for health-conscious customers. Vanessa discusses her journey, transition businesses, and passion for health and wellness.
(VC) You once started a health and wellness initiative called The TreeHouse Juice & Wellness Bar, as well as Ohm. Do you still work in the wellness field?
(Vanessa) Yes, wellness will always be a top priority and personal investment. Being a businesswoman has allowed me to explore ways that my money can work for me while I lend my focus to passion projects in wellness.
My first beverage company – Ohm Unit LLC was a Launchpad for The Treehouse as we continue to explore ways to expand as a business and community.
(VC) What does Self Awareness mean to Vanessa and has it evolved since your transition from New York City to Los Angeles?
(Vanessa) Growth is an unending process. For me, it’s been a progressive and transformational journey, mentally, spiritually, emotionally, physically, socially, financially and in more ways, I’m still discovering as I’m becoming.
I believe it all starts with who we are as individuals; Who you’ve decided to be; the passive or impassive role you play within your immediate circle sets a tone
(VC) In the present work world of patriarchal microaggressions, there seems to be a decrease of empathy as the use of social media rises, please tell us about the work you are doing and how it may relate?
(Vanessa) My Individuality is independent of societal or patriarchal pressures. I don’t know that Social Media plays a role in the decrease in empathy. However, I do know that Social Media sheds light on the state of our collective consciousness.

Health and Wellness have always been important to me, and my message is simply ‘Take Care of Yourself’. As we can’t pour from an empty vessel; by taking care of ourselves, we can approach all things from a healthier perspective that can potentially benefit the greater good. I do believe we’re collectively learning of the critical importance of good health through the lens of the current pandemic.
(VC) Human interaction and business go hand in hand with one nested within the other. How has the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic affected your own processes as an entrepreneur?
(Vanessa) As a businesswoman and entrepreneur in a digital world, human Interaction in business has been redefined; especially in the current pandemic. While businesses have been vastly affected, online and Social Media interactions have served as useful tools in balancing the dampening effect of social distancing on sales. Services are still being provided through online and social media to keep up with current demands.
(VC) In your quiet or noisy moments, how does Vanessa stay inspired to inspire others? What ultimately motivates you to create work you do. Are you intensely spiritual or physiological like many in your field or are you more scientific?
(Vanessa) Alone time is my super-power. It’s when I get to recharge, introspect, regenerate, and meditate to expand and gain clarity. To connect with Source energy – The giver of life. My Scientific mind is curious and my heart is spiritual. I believe life is paradoxical and nothing is absolute, but a gradient scale; So I’d say a good balance; as we should know when to use more or less of our heart and mind, or perhaps both, depending on the situation.
I choose to Advocate for wellness and environmental health in hopes of encouraging healthy habits that become more than a lifestyle, to redefine and refine our Culture
(VC) At this stage of your personal milestones and accomplishments, If you could collaborate with any brand or public figure in business who would it be and why?
(Vanessa) At this stage, I’m enjoying rubbing minds, sharing lenses, and ideals with hopes to affect a common problem with a simple solution; whether it is within a small or larger group.
A public figure I could collaborate with would probably be Elon Musk, as he’s a socially conscious tech Investor and his projects enhance clean energy. The absence of social gatherings has created a significant decrease in the concentration of common air pollutants that emit from cars, trucks, buses, and power plants. Air pollution has a tremendous impact on the quality of our health.

(VC) What kind of work or social impact can the United States expect from you within the next 24 months?
(Vanessa) While the times demand individual and collective effort, I’m under no pressure to pick up my pace but to continually and progressively apply myself in ways that I’m led to affect positive change personally and socially, especially through nutritional education.
